Kathleen Lau, the founder of Kathleen’s restaurants, has over 25 years of F&B history in Shanghai. Starting with a humble bistro in 1999, going on to open Kathleen’s 5 in the Shanghai Art Museum from 2004 until 2014.  Thereafter opening Kathleen Waitan’s first location on the North Bund in 2013, which moved in 2018 to the 1,000m2 plus premiere dining and event space you see today, the new Kathleen’s Waitan on the South Bund. 
We are one of few western restaurants outside of a 5-star hotel that can serve weddings of 300 and a la Carte customers at the same time.  Our famous bund river views, soft lighting and quiet corners make us the perfect setting for a marriage proposal or a romantic dinner. Couples have organized their proposals, then weddings and later, their 30-day birthdays of their child -- all at Kathleen’s Waitan, where we make your memories from past to present special.
